While so excellently ruling the universe, King Priyavrata once became dissatisfied with the circumambulation of the most powerful sun-god. Encircling Sumeru Hill on his chariot, the sun-god illuminates all the surrounding planetary systems. However, when the sun is on the northern side of the hill, the south receives less light, and when the sun is in the south, the north receives less. King Priyavrata disliked this situation and therefore decided to make daylight in the part of the universe where there was night. He followed the orbit of the sun-god on a brilliant chariot and thus fulfilled his desire. He could perform such wonderful activities because of the power he had achieved by worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead. SB 5.1.30
Fifth Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam describes the beautiful activities of Maharaja Priyavrata about how he was dissatisfied with the movement of the sun. He desired to make daylight in the part of the universe where there was night. He followed the orbit of the sun-god on a brilliant chariot and thus fulfilled his desire. He could perform such wonderful activities because of the power he had achieved by worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
One who has received the grace of the Supreme Lord can only perform such a wonderful feat.
Shrila Prabhupada, like Maharaja Priyavrata, himself circumambulated the globe 14 times in 12 years.
Just like Maharaja Priyavrata gave enhanced light of the sun for the inhabitants of the world, Shrila Prabhupada gave light of the scriptures to a world plunged in the darkness of material ignorance.
Prabhupada, just like Priyavrata, could do such wonderful things because he was specially empowered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
The sun is one, and the sun cannot be at many places at the same time. Prabhupada, by his divine vision, established 108 temples worldwide through which people could receive Krishna’s grace even when he was not personally present.
Priyavrata created a second sun by following the path of the sun, but Shrila Prabhupada created unlimited suns in the form of his followers those who are spreading the light of the Bhagavata throughout the world.
Even 50 years after Prabhupada’s departure, Prabhupada’s Deities, Prabhupada’s books, Prabhupada’s lectures, his bhajans are giving inspiration to thousands! Isn’t that wonderful?
Thus, Prabhupada did something more than even what Priyavrata did, and even more than the sun can ever do!
And what is there to doubt in the activities of such great souls?
naivaṁ-vidhaḥ puruṣa-kāra urukramasya
puṁsāṁ tad-aṅghri-rajasā jita-ṣaḍ-guṇānām
citraṁ vidūra-vigataḥ sakṛd ādadīta
yan-nāmadheyam adhunā sa jahāti bandham
“Such power is not surprising from persons who have conquered the six senses by the dust from the lotus feet of the Lord, since even an outcaste becomes immediately free of bondage of karma by chanting the Lord’s name once.” SB 5.1.35
Śukadeva Gosvāmī was speaking to Mahārāja Parīkṣit about the activities of King Priyavrata, and since the King might have had doubts about these wonderful, uncommon activities, Śukadeva Gosvāmī reassured him. “My dear King,” he said, “don’t be doubtful about the wonderful activities of Priyavrata. For a devotee of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, everything is possible because the Lord is also known as Urukrama.” SB 5.1.35 P
Prabhupada’s activities appear really supernatural.
12 years, 108 temples meaning every year 9 temples. That comes to one temple in less than 1.5 months!!
For ordinary people, even if in their whole lifetime they are able to construct and maintain one temple, that is a big achievement. Prabhupada established 108 temples in a short span of 12 years. How supremely empowered Shrila Prabhupada was!
And therefore, if we simply follow Shrila Prabhupada, we must have the firm faith that we will also be supremely empowered to do wonders in our own lives and in the lives of others.
PS: “Here comes the Sun” was a song written by George Harrison; and later a book by the same title was written about George Harrison by Steven J Rosen, Satyaraja Prabhu.
