A few days back, I was forwarding some marriage profiles of some of our devotees. Just one activity of marriage in this life requires such a great amount of deliberation.
In a marriage there are many parameters that are checked by astrology. And if they don’t match properly, it’s not considered the right match. I knew about horoscopes, but I didn’t know the depth of it.
Some people believe in it, whereas some don’t. But obviously, we are born as a result of our karma. The birth charts and everything else are a sign of our past karma, and they give a fair amount of indication of what we are going to do in this life.
That is what we call destiny.
FREE WILL or BOUND by MODES?
But there is something also called as freewill, and that is in our hands.
Freewill doesn’t function much unless we are surrendered to Krishna. By default, it goes in the direction of the three modes which are impelling us. A person outside of Krishna consciousness literally has little or no free will.
Therefore, Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita 3.27:
“The spirit soul bewildered by the influence of false ego thinks himself the doer of activities that are in actuality carried out by the three modes of material nature.”
Such a person thinks he is acting, but he is simply running under the influence of the three modes.
Freewill can definitely be used to our benefit. How? By the right upbringing and the right association.
Unless we are totally surrendered, we are bound to act according to our nature.
Sharing my Karma?
Just for this one activity of marriage—if you want to share karma with someone—it is so complex!
You cannot, and you wouldn’t want to, share (because it involves both giving and taking!) karma with just anyone and everyone.
Demigods do not take our karma. They only adjust our karma – lifting burden from one shoulder and putting it on another!
Devotees don’t merely adjust; they take your karma. Rather, they dissipate your karma.
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam says:
bhajanti ye yathā devān
devā api tathaiva tān
chāyeva karma-sacivāḥ
sādhavo dīna-vatsalāḥ
“Those who worship the demigods receive reciprocation from the demigods in a way just corresponding to the offering. The demigods are attendants of karma, like a person’s shadow, but sādhus are actually merciful to the fallen.” SB 11.2.6
And that is the greatness of spiritual masters. They don’t ask about our background. They don’t ask whether we are sincere. They just see the inclination to serve, or even just a spark, and they fan it incessantly. How indebted we should be to them!
Krishna Connection and Horoscope?
And when it comes to Krishna—to connect with Him, to establish a relationship with Him—it doesn’t require any alignment in our birth chart.
It doesn’t need any karma to get initiated.
To “marry” (establish a lifelong connection with) Guru and Krishna doesn’t require astrological advice or matching horoscopes.
Krishna’s horoscope perfectly matches with every jīva! That is the causeless mercy of the Lord
Relationships of this world last only for a short time. But a relationship with Krishna lasts for eternity.
And yet, Krishna puts no conditions for staying with Him. He takes away all our negativity and returns us only positivity. That is the beauty of Krishna’s character. It is said that when we clap in kirtans, the lines on our hands change. That means, Krishna takes over our charts. He defines even our horoscope.
Therefore, giving up all hesitation, we should match our horoscope with Krishna, and thereby attain entrance into eternity, where our karma is sealed and we revive our eternal relationship with Krishna.
Hari bol!!!
