How amazing is the relationship of a true spiritual master and a genuine disciple!! 

The first requisite is to hear from the spiritual master and to hear about the spiritual master. Then one develops a fondness and attraction for hearing the messages. Once someone hears, then one also understands what kind of abominable situation I was in and how the spiritual master has mercifully saved me. 

This gratitude further fills the devotee’s heart with great affection. One hears the sound vibration coming from the spiritual master with more and more attention, and one’s only wish becomes to follow the instructions of the spiritual master – guru mukha padma vakya cittete koriya aikya, ara na koriho mane asha…

When one follows the instructions of the spiritual master, one feels the transformation happening within the inner recesses of his or her heart, and that makes one even more joyful and indebted. 

With that increased gratitude, one wants to do anything and everything for the spiritual master. One wishes to hear continuously from the spiritual master to know how one is faring in one’s spiritual life, and what all things one must do more. 

When the heart thus gets conquered, one understands that even if I give my entire life for the spiritual master, it is not enough. And one’s love for the spiritual master makes one a sold out servant life after life. 

One is ready to accompany the spiritual master wherever he is, and just assist his or her spiritual master in whatever capacity he can. And one is so conquered that one even doesn’t wish to go back home, back to Godhead. If the spiritual master is busy delivering souls in another universe, he or she wants to go there also.

Such is the deep relationship between the guru and the disciple.
